Storm clouds over Meadowview
Meadowview , VA is a great small town. It has a general store, restaurant, church, train depot and post office. The food is great at Harvest Table and most of it is locally grown and produced.
Photo of myself made by my grandson, Will. 8 yrs old and on the move.
A Window Thru Time.
Will is looking into the Inns House located on the side of the Sunken Road. The walls are full of bullet holes from the Battle of Fredericksburg in December, 1862. The house and part of the stone wall that bordered the Sunken Road were the only two things still standing in the immediate area from Civil War times.
We were not allowed into the Inns House, but could look into the windows at the bullet holes in the walls and see the reflection of the stone walls that bordered the Sunken Road.
Civil War Compass
This compass was placed at the Battle of Fredericksburg to show that Fredericksburg and the immediate area were bloody and hallowed ground. The city was located 50 miles from both Richmond and Washington and was fought over repeatedly.
